These Aged Ashton Virgin Sun Grown Torpedo 2002 cigars made their first debut at the RTDA 2001 and are the original powerhouse cigar.
They were made by Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia, for Ashton Distributors Inc..
Ashton VSG hallmark is it’s dark, Sumatran-seed wrapper grown under cloudy skies in Ecuador at the foothills of the Andes by one of the legendary names in the Cigar business, the Oliva Tobacco Company of Tampa, Florida.
Ashton Virgin Sun Grown or VSGs, as they are known, consistently have taken some of the highest scores in Cigar Aficionado magazine and Cigar Insider newsletters over the years. The Ashton VSG Torpedo is a hefty figurado that stood out in the Cigar Insider vertical brand tasting back in April 2009. (The average score was 90.1 points.) The Torpedo was not as strong as Cigar Aficionado remembered, but said it brimmed with sweet cedar and nutmeg flavors, with creamy texture. Always dependable, always flavourful.
